As some of you may notice, we have internet in our caban, but this stopped working for the past two weeks… strange… So i decided to open up the little box in the middle of our garden that hosts an ethernet switch to link the distant parts (our houses are more than 100m away one from the other). It seems that some unwanted hosts have been building up something *into* the switch. It happened once that ants tried to build around the electricity meter but this time it was inside the switch.

So i blew up some insect spray, let them die and them used a small brush to clean up the mess… after some inspection and a switch reboot it seems that port 5 is dead due to an overload of ant eggs, but port 1 to 4 are still functioning. so i’ve replugged everything and started the network back online :)
